How Math RTI Works at BESWhat We Do: We support students who are experiencing difficulty in Math.
How We Do It: 1.) We collaborate with teachers to plan and implement differentiated math instruction in the classroom. 2.)We work with students in a small group setting to provide explicit instruction in Math and empower them to experience success with State Standard Required Fluencies. 3.) We use data and progress monitoring to track student development over time.
Who Qualifies: We endeavor to take a comprehensive approach in the selection of students for the Math Intervention program. Curriculum based measurement assessments aligned with the State Standards for the previously completed school year are administered to all students in grades 1-4. We do this at the beginning of their academic year. These assessments measure the student's abilities in the areas of Numbers and Operations. Students who obtain a score lower 70% are identified as potential candidates for the Math Intervention program. Additional data is considered, including:
A) Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) scores (students who score in the bottom 30 percent range) B) Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) scores C) Teacher RecommendationWhether or not the student has been coded as SPED and is receiving support from other programs. D) We also rely on parent approval in order for students to receive Math Intervention support.
